Remember that time when Ryan and Brendon bumped into each other at a restaurant a few months after the split and then Bren tweeted this photo with the caption “small world” and Ryan retweeted it? 2009 broke my heart
Calendar Business, the making of Pretty. Odd.
Ryan Ross edition
Yesterday at our Meet & Greet in Charlotte, my sister had Brendon and Spencer sign the “family photo” from A Picture With Books. Brendon stopped and looked it over. Then he simply ran his finger over Ryan. It was precious, but heartbreaking at the same time.

“We lost a couple buddies, so for a couple months, it was a little weird, but writing all this stuff was therapeutic,” Brendon, 23, tells me as he’s driving home to Santa Monica after a business meeting. “Writing all this stuff down and how it made us feel and how we could mask that in lyrics … those things had to be talked about. We wanted to talk about that stuff.”
Their song The Calendar touches on that emotion.
“At certain moments feeling helpless, but ultimately the choice to get over it and move forward. That was a huge step for us. Not having talked about it would’ve been weird, and almost suppressing all those feelings. It was good for us to be able to talk about that. That’s one of those songs where it would seem like it was about a girl, but it was about the intimate relationship we had with each other, because being in a band is intimate, it’s like a family – like a marriage, almost. It was deep.”
LIKE A MARRIAGE.
The concert in New York will consist of Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, The Young Veins, and then also a performance of Panic+The Young Veins, Cobra Starship, The Hush Sound, reunited The Academy Is…, a special full-length musical performance of Razia’s Shadow, and a dramatic reading of THROAM.

To Whom This May Concern:
Ryan Ross and Jon Walker will be leaving Panic at the Disco to embark on a musical excursion of their own. Though the four of us have made music together in the past, we’ve creatively evolved in different directions which has compromised what each of us want to personally achieve. Over the years, we have remained close and honest with each other, which helped us to realize that our goals were different and that parting ways is truly what is best for each of us. We are all excited for the future, you should be too.

Me: On July 6, 2009, Ryan Ross and Jon Walker left Panic! At the Disco, citing creative differences as the reason for their departure. Soon afterwards, it was announced that their new project would be a retro-leaning rock band called The Young Veins.

Ryan: *tries to talk but no words come out*
Ryan: I was in that band for so long I never thought there’d be anything other than that band
